Training Descriptions

The following are examples of some of the open and adaptable on-site trainings offered by ERi:

The Challenge Course Manager
This training is designed for professional staff managers, directors, department coordinators, or staff members responsible for overseeing the operation of a challenge course.  Topics include standard operating procedures, risk management, program development, staff development, marketing, industry standards, and the future of the business.  Issues will be presented and discussed in a dynamic exchange of information and ideas.

High Ropes Technical Training
This training prepares challenge course staff to run high ropes courses and climbing towers with static, dynamic, or stand-alone elements.  Participants will practice technical and “soft” skills needed for the safe and meaningful operation of a high ropes program, including equipment procedures, set-up, knots, course construction, sequencing, belaying techniques, rescues, and processing.

Low Ropes Course Skills Training
Geared towards a low-course setting, this training takes participants through a detailed program sequence that is very experiential and purposeful. In addition to discussing basic operations and modifications for low course elements in a hands-on learning environment, participants will also explore the learning cycle and consider how to implement ideas into their own curriculum or program.  Participation contracts and processing techniques will also be big parts of this exciting training.

Initiatives and Advanced Processing
This powerful training takes participants to the next level and assists with the development of a diverse arsenal of meaningful activities and processing options.  No matter what challenge structures are available at your facility, facilitators can benefit from this opportunity to build a repertoire of initiatives (with and without props), situational activities, and group assessment skills.  Throughout the training, participants will also focus on processing techniques and explore the many different ways a facilitator can guide a group through an experiential education experience.
